Migraine is a neurological condition, which most frequently manifests as severe, recurrent headache. It may be accompanied with other symptoms like visual disturbances, nausea, aura and more. It shows a female predilection. It is the third most and prevalent and the sixth most disabling disease in the world.

In Netherlands, the number of migraine cases rose sharply from 1991 to 2014. Since then, the number of incident cases has remained almost constant.

The health care expenditure for migraine was 37.4 million euros in 2017 in Netherlands.
